Ghodaddyyo -> New Member Intro (Aug. 2 2016 22:46:51)

Hello Foro Members, Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member. I've been playing guitar for quite a long time, mostly rock and did the rock band thing for a while. Decided to take jazz lessons about 10 years back which introduced me to finger style playing with bossa novas and chord melodies. Decided to start learning classical to improve my finger technique and fell in love with the Spanish pieces I was learning which eventually led me down the path to flamenco. At this point I'm self teaching via the Gerhard Graf Martinez books and wouldn't mind finding a teacher in my area (Orange County, CA). I currently play on a Córdoba Fusion 14RS for my nylon needs and from the posts I've read, I know I'll need a real flamenco guitar eventually. I don't know anyone else around me who plays Flamenco and I still participate in jazz jams about once a week so the Fusion 14 fits the bill for my main uses. It'll take me a long time to get my picado up anywhere near the speed of my pick playing, but slowing down has made me focus on better note choices. I hope to get there eventually. Thanks for all the helpful posts I've been reading before registering and hopefully I can contribute some useful things non flamenco I've learned along the way. John Huntington Beach, CA
