Steel Wound Trebles? (Full Version)

I have been using La Bella 820B (Black Trebles) that have silver-plated wound basses & black nylon trebles.
I have been thinking that I would like to try to find some strings that also use silver-plated wound trebles for a snappier sound, with similar tonal characteristics to a steel string guitar.
Do these strings exist, and does anybody have some recommendations?

When have you ever seen a wound treble on anything is my question? If you want a steel string tone get a steel string acoustic. Your nylon string guitar isn't meant to handle the tension of a true steel string treble.

@tri7/5 ... I haven't played with wound trebles before. & I do have steel string guitars, that does not answer my question.
My question is in regards to flamenco guitars, and if there are treble strings that, like the wound bass strings, have that snappy tonal quality...
I find that when I go from the basses to the trebles there is not only a noticeable different in the tonal balance, but in the feel of my fingers due to the contrasting string texture. The nylon trebles are much lighter than the basses, and I am just looking for trebles that are more similar to the basses.

Savarez 520PI has wound trebles, has anyone had any experience with these?

They wear out and go dead in a few minutes of playing. If you had an important very short duration gig they sound great.

Tonal balance can be a guitar issue too. Cheaper guitars are not as well balanced.
I like dadario dynacores for brightness and string life.

There is a reason why you can’t find trebles built in the same way as the base strings. I won’t bore you with the science but if you look at the strings 6, 5 and 4 in order, you will see that the metal windings get thinner and the strings get thinner. Imagine if this progression was continued for strings 3, 2 and 1. String 1 would be very thin with very thin windings that would break immediately I guess.

Savarez have a set with a metal wound 3 string (520F I think) but this is probably as far as you can go with metal windings.

Wound third strings used to be more common. Dr. Tomastic strings featured a flat wound third that was very popular for classical players. With the Savarez wound trebles you didn't need to worry about breakage since they were totally dead long before they broke.

The entire point to having a nylon string guitar is BECAUSE of the tonal differences between basses and trebles. Why fight that?

Those are pretty interesting strings. They'd be terrible for flamenco but I think you just saved me from buying a steel string acoustic. [:D] I'm gunna try these on my cheapo Dean Espana and see how it goes.

Showing my age I suppose. Originally they were just Dr. Thomastik. They offered flat wound with nylon core. I never liked them since they were dull sounding but they didn't squeak when you did slides.

My first guitar was a clunker from Paracho, Mexico. I hasten to add, you can now get some world class guitars from Paracho, as well as clunkers like mine, the best I could afford when I was 19 years old.

On this guitar I used Savarez "Red Card" strings with a nylon wound 3rd. It helped to brighten up the clunker.

After my wife gave me my '67 Ramirez 1a blanca, I used the same strings on it for a while, but fairly soon started using the plain 3rd, which sounded great--on a great guitar.

You can find Savarez "Red Cards" with all three treble strings nylon wound (to my surprise) here:

but I don't think I would use them on any guitar I have.
