I´ve made a video interview with the luthier. He says, it´s Grenadillo and not Rio rosewood. Grenadillo is a kind of Brazilian rosewood although it looks very similar to rio rosewood. As far as I know grenadillo is not under CITES. Tomorrow I´am at the booth again and will ask the luthier. Anytime during the weekend I´ll post his answer. Please check back later. The grenadillo sounds sharper than the more round sound of rio rosewood, very sharp, as I really would state. The booth conception is very lousy this year, so it is very noisy at the instrument makers. I´m beaten by a little focal distonia, but I´ll try to provide a small sound demo on the flamencas. Also I haven´t played for about a month... Btw. there are more than two kinds of Brazilian rosewood under CITES e. g. pau ferro and so others.
