Does any one one know how to get rid of a dead note or wolf note from a flamenco guitar
on one spot on the neck.

Its a complex problem. I've solved this problem in a number of ways including:
shaving braces
adding braces
tapering the edges of the top


You can stick a clump of clay in various spots over the top and see if it solves the problem then add mass (bracing) in that area. This works sometimes.

I've found adding braces running perpendicular to the top grain are a more effective solution than braces running parallel.

We used a bracing pattern that we named "chicken tracks" to solve this on a few guitars. Three short braces added at each end of the bridge, one parallel with the bridge and the other two forming sort of a "v" radiating on either side of the first brace. This was the most effective solution we've tried but it's rather time consuming.

Sorry, can't help you with Deadnotes or Wolfnotes.

But I can tell you once you have a Dudnote on a flamenco guitar it's very hard to get rid of him [:D][:D][:D]

Which notes? What frets?

Make sure your frets are level, a high fret on the treble side especially can make a note seem dead. Check frets first before you pronounce death.

Wolf notes are places where high harmonics are clashing, dead notes are notes not speaking out well compared to surrounding notes. Sometimes caused by high harmonics fighting, but not always.

Overtones can be calmed like John says with blocks of wood or braces to tame them. And sometimes taking away wood frees up areas to resonate differently.

But the location and exact note or notes is important to know before advising.

Is it a dead note or a wolf note?
In my understandings they are opositions.
Dead note = little volume/tone.
Wolf note = to high volume/Dominant tone.

Do a test:
check the same tone on the Astring (13th fret) and the G (3rd fret)

If the tone is wrong there as well, then most probably you have a soundbox problem. If it is ok or better on the other positions then most probably its a fingerboard/fret problem.
