That seems rather unusual...especially considering you are likely a flamenco guitar addict.

El Kiko -> RE: Musical intermission during addiction psychiatry conference (Mar. 8 2016 21:30:15)

Romb ...if your guitar playing is used as a threat , to help people stop ...then youve found a use for it ..[:D]

Wait a minute .....what if you re addicted to flamenco ....oh yeah , it would still work .....jejeje?

Piwin -> RE: Musical intermission during addiction psychiatry conference (Mar. 8 2016 22:18:57)

Very cool! Olé!!
If it's a conference does it mean you were playing in front of other practitioners or were there patients too?

I am becoming more an Argentine tango (dancing) addict than a flamenco addict, actually...

My flamenco guitar playing heals in a non-threatening way.

There were no patients in the audience. Only medical students, doctors, nurses, psychologists, etc.

Yeah I was gonna say, Doctor heal thyself...hahaha

You spelled it wrong, it's Flamingo Intermezzo..

Stressful! They probably analyzed the sh** out of your performance! Kidding, kidding.[;)]
Very cool in any event.
If you're into Argentine tango, you may like this.
It's obviously not classic tango music, no Astor Piazzolla for sure, but there's clearly some inspiration from traditional Argentine music and often from tango. It makes for some nice music for a rainy morning.
These probably aren't the best examples of the tango inspiration but I can't find the ones I'm looking for!

More of a super traditional tango music kind of guy. [:)]

Cool stuff man. Were you able to stop once you'd started?

rombsix -> RE: Musical intermission during addiction psychiatry conference (Mar. 9 2016 12:14:08)

Thanks I'll give it a listen!

As an example, playing his Adios Nonino interpretation is extremely difficult in both left and right hands.

Can it be as hard as Dudnote's aam rasgueado. If so, I quit![:D] I'm gonna go buy a pick like the rational people do [8D]

I discovered a full professor of psychology and psychiatry who plays this instrument:

I've noticed you guys enjoy Argentine tango. Knowing that you are also flamenco guitar fans, then I suggest you give Cacho Tirao a listen.

Look what I found at the record store for $2.75!!! Was thinking of starting a vinyl thread, I've picked up some really cool stuff the last few weeks since I fixed an old Technics someone gave me. Been a south american folk fan for a while now, would love to find a Carlos DeFulvio or Eduardo Falu or something.

Chapman Stick...great instrument ...theres some really good players around ....if you think about it , its kind of when the guitar turns into a piano ....

Piwin -> RE: Musical intermission during addiction psychiatry conference (Mar. 14 2016 9:40:19)

Reminds me of Stanley Jordan's way of playing the electric guitar

That record is on a lot. I'm indeed a Tirao fan now. Been listening to a lot of Carlos Di Fulvio too.
