Here's the result of the Iberian mix Fado + Flamenco. Jangada de Pedra refers to the peninsula. I thinks it's worth getting this album. Highly recomended!!

Whooooa Oh my god fuggin awesome! What is that he's playing???? Yeah, he's my favorite too! I have both his albums on iTunes. Somos do mar e do vinho is my jam!!! How is fados received in Portugal? Grandpas music? I blast it in traffic and people look at me funny lol it's funny when my stereo is louder than the dude bumpin (c)rap music next to me. Lol

He is really obsessed with the sound being as perfect as possible, he spends more than half an hour just positioning the microphones[:D] I think Fado in Portugal is treated pretty much how Flamenco is treated in Spain, most people couldn't care less. Although there is some prejudice in Spain regarding Flamenco that we don't have here in Portugal when it comes to Fado. If you ask random people if they like Fado the majority will tell will they love it but in reality they don't know sh*t about it.

Muito tarde! Eu já estou com ciúmes! [:D] I suppose Fados is kinda like folk music here. Everyone says, "oh yeah, I love folk!" and they've only ever heard of Bob Dylan. Flamenco maybe more like bluegrass, if you ask most people on the street here bluegrass is hillbilly music. I like it a lot more than folk though!

I know diddly squat about Fado, but I do like Mariza's material from about 10 years ago or so... Was disappointed with some of the hits of recent material when I searched just now - is it all commercial or is she still producing the goods at times?
