Tino's 'Desatino' is from 2004. 'Curioso Impertinente' is new - listening to it now, sounds good so far.

There is no doubt about José Antonio Rodríguez's musicianship but this is not to my taste at all.

Maybe my tastes just have not "matured" sufficiently but I expect, and like, my flamenco to be more lively. Plus, I feel trumpets, and flutes and an assortment of other instruments, seem completely out of place in flamenco, I just don't like it.

It's a shame I don't like this because I am finding it harder and harder to find new music that I really like.

Josemi Carmona & Javier Colina - De Cerca
This album starts with a kick-ass alegria, making me think is this the Josemi album we've all been waiting for? alas no - for me at least it gets very elevator rumba-y for most of the album. Which may well be the music he likes, if so good on him, not my thing though.

Pedro Cintas - Mi Libertá
This one I'd recommend - a singer I'd never heard before, and a straight up flamenco album, not trying to be fancy. It's refreshing hearing a singer not trying to be Camarón accompanied by guitarists not tying to be Paco. The fandangos does suffer from keyboard but on the whole a raw album.

If you haven't got the new Jeronimo Maya album 'Como Soy', definitely check it out, it's my favourite of the last few years. Only available together with a DVD (no digital release AFAIK) but well worth it.
