Hey Welcome,

Is there a lot of flamenco in Plymouth? I Lived there about 10 years ago and never saw flamenco when I was there.

There does seem to be a good scene down in the west country though.

Not that I know of - just the odd enthusiast it would seem!

No, just one dance class at the moment Stephen. I used to accompany at two of the previous ones (probably the first one was whilst you still lived here, I'll have to check my dates) but the Spanish dancer I worked with moved away and eventually I got bored of being an unpaid metronome for beginners. We did a few gigs - La Tasca on Union Street for example.

Exeter seems to have a slightly better scene (ie more dance classes plus a few local gigs) and the folk there have started putting on workshops at Taunton, brining down Spanish pros from London.

Bristol has the best scene of all in the South West - at least two pro level guitarists (Ricardo will know Cuffy from Gerardo's course) plus regular gigs with cante, baile and toque in various combos at wine bars and pubs. There's a SW Facebook flamenco group.

Yes - the SW of UK Flamenco scene starts and ends meaningfully at Bristol IMHO

I suppose it's like everywhere else. There are just small pockets of players that pop up from time to time. I would love to move back to the west country one day. Unfortunately I have lived in the south east for so long I don't have an awesome west country accent shame!
