Jeff’s flamenco guitars are heavily inspired by the work of Manuel Reyes. This example, number 160, dates from 2004. It is handmade by Jeff, and the label is hand-signed.
This guitar is in excellent structural condition. There are two minor cosmetic blemishes. One is a tiny string ding behind the bridge at the B string. It is barely noticeable, as it is close to a Bearclaw mark in the Spruce top. The second is a very thin lacquer crack on the back. Again, this is hard to see, because it runs parallel to the grain of the Cypress. It is a crack in the lacquer finish only.
This guitar was his 1a model when it was built. Today it would be somewhere between his Master Grade model ($4,000) and his Student Model ($2,000).
A B-Band onboard pickup system has been installed, with volume and tone controls in the soundhole. This is a $200 upgrade.
The woods used are quite lovely, with a silky Spruce top featuring some Bearclaw figuring, and sexy “racing stripes” on the Cypress back.
Jeff currently has a 1-year long back order, as his guitars—especially his Blancas—are very much in demand.
