Could it be to that the guitar has reached such a high level that you almost have to be a guitarist to understand and appreciate the complex stuff that's going on?

I took my mother to see Vicente Amigo it was mostly guitar and cajon, after the concert she basically said "well it was interesting to see but i don't now if the music touched me because i didn't really get what was going on" while on the other hand when i took her to see Paco she was screaming and cheering more then me after each nr[:D]

That applies to any instrument, really.

You can be really proud of your 4 part harmony arrangement that you did for your band but the majority of people will only notice the main melody.

I am working on a new piece to draw more attention to solo guitar, it's called the "Woodpecker" it's a 15 min long Bulerias Al Golpe which ends in a dramatic crescendo where my finger finally penetrates the top of the brand new Conde i am playing.
