Flamencito -> RE: Rasgueado: aii vs mii (Nov. 3 2015 7:39:34)

I would say it might be a bit easier to get an even sound, since the fingers i and a have a more similair length.

Sr. Martins -> RE: Rasgueado: aii vs mii (Nov. 3 2015 13:06:21)

Do both, alternate between them and make sure they sound the same.

Grisha -> RE: Rasgueado: aii vs mii (Nov. 3 2015 13:31:52)

For me aii is easier to control, but mii has more power. I use them both.

If you had to choose one, which would you choose and why? aii feels very awkward to me, but I suppose that is true with any new technique. Is there any advantage one has over the other?

When you do it correct for galloping rhythm or triplets, it affects the sound of the chord by which strings are targeted. For example this pattern i up, a down, i down flick.....the i up gets only trebs, the a gets the mid strings and the i flick gets a snappy bass...so fast you get a chuck ah boom, chuck ah boom sound which is important. M finger gets more or less same sound as I down, flick or no flick, so if you are going for that you need it too. So work on both, but in reality i a i is used and needed WAY more often.

LeƱador -> RE: Rasgueado: aii vs mii (Nov. 3 2015 15:29:49)

The middle finger should be straight. Flipping off the audience. The trick to this technique is completely separating your A and M fingers so your M doesn't move every time you use your A. It takes time and then one day it just works and feels totally comfortable.

EDIT. Sorry, I deleted the video. Couldn't stand the sound. Perhaps in the future I can record again using better equipment.

To the person who asked about my guitar... It's a guitar I've had for two and a half years now, so it's hardly new.

Cloth Ears -> RE: Rasgueado: aii vs mii (Nov. 4 2015 9:21:01)

mii works well when holding chords high up the neck with the shortened string lengths.

I would tend to disagree that you should make them sound the same: use them for for their slight different effects, like all the multitude of triplet variants.
