I spoke to Paco today, and mentioned that people had been asking about reissues of his early LPs. He said he hadn’t really thought about it, and to e-mail Elvira, who takes care of all this sort of thing.

So, in preparation: which LPs of Paco’s would you buy of they were reissued on CD?

Any questions about these LPs, please post them here.

I would buy a cd with solo pieces that would not be on cd before...

I have two early solo LP's (One of them is "The Incrdible...." and the other is called "Flamenco Guitar" - maybe that is the 3rd one on your list, "Flamenco"?), and had them transferred to mp3, but they have jumps and scratches! would they both fit on one disc? a twofer would be good!

I have two editions of "fabulous flamenco", each one twinned with a different other album ("The Art of the Flamenco Guitar" and "La Gitarra Flamenca") - when I first started listening to flamenco that was all that was available here in UK

I don't know all his back catalogue, as most of it has not been available, so maybe others

That would be Live in London and Flamenco Vivo.

The latter was recorded live in Munich, and won the Preis der Deutschen Schallplatten Kritic.

Bits and pieces of the other solo albums have appeared in CD anthologies, some now themselves deleted.

• 7 tracks from Incredible and 5 from Flamenco appeared on the Flamenco CD (Amazon B000008JCR).

• 8 tracks from The Art of the Flamenco Guitar were included with one Decca reissue of Fabulous Flamenco!, Amazon B000007UCC. (The other, Amazon B0002F0MCY, included the whole of La Gitarra Flamenca)

Flamenco World (Amazon US B0070M61V8, UK B004J65E0M) was issued to accompany a BBC TV documentary of the same title, now apparently sunk without trace.

Carnival, with a Latin American harp trio, was anthologised briefly on the hybrid Paco Doble, but has never appeared on CD.

Yes, that seems to be the case.

(Unfortunately, Nimbus’s twofer of Montoya/Ricardo and Azahara is also called Flamenco Guitar, so my reviews of the one tend to get posted on the other as well [:@])

See the discography on his web site:

Incidentally, the latest CD & DVD (Flamenco sin Fronteras & Quimeras) seem to be available only through the site.
