In the 70’s, when I was in my 20’s, I heard an early album by Sabicas (Flamenco Fever). When I heard it I decided that’s the kind of music I wanted to try to play. I took lessons from a professional with the intent of just learning solo pieces which were comprised of his own compositions. He played professionally in L.A at the Matador in the 60’s. Gino D’Auri was second guitar to him and became the featured guitarist after my teacher left. My interest is only playing solo guitar. I have never played for singers or dancers nor have I ever had interest in doing so. . I am basically a bedroom player and rarely have played in front of people, which co-incidentally has been a bit of a problem for me. I’m striving to eventually overcome my shyness and introduce the art at what ever level I have to offer to others. Time is running out, I’m in my 60’s!! I’ve been lurking the foro for many months and decided to chime in. This is the best foro that I have seen by far. I don’t have a lot to contribute from a technical standpoint since I basically just try to play other guitarists’ music. But I do consider my level of playing as intermediate, i.e., I can play some solos by Sabicas, Nunez, Paco Serrano and others. I can’t play at their level of course and rarely are the pieces error free, but I can get by. Saludos from Southern Cal! picante (Dan)
