I am editing my last shots, with a bunch of not too bad ones.

When receiving a severe blow in life, years ago, the great surprise weren´t just the entrusted heads who turned out frauds, but just as much some individuals in my surrounding who showed to be secretly enjoying the misery.

What happened? It took me years and the help of friends to gradually understand.
When you are of the somewhat analytical kind, and in the same time straight forward with a dedication to facts, your rather to the emotional side of intellect leaning average Joe perceives you as rude and bubble blasting.

In consequence and as emotional response he will begrudge you yet the gunk under your fingernails (as we say in German).

It´s just the good old routine of beheading messengers, while past millennia havn´t really changed much on homo trivialis.

Reluctantly, but I am learning to live with it. Thanks.

I like the composition, lighting and the subject a great deal, was is it processed to look like a painting? A touch of Degas in there.

Yes, it´s been processed to look like a painting.
Been seeking for a decent corresponding app since a long time, and tried out many, but none would work out satisfactory. Not even photoshop. Either the FX couldn´t overcome the photo realism, or it would be over the top.

Just two days ago I found a little software that may be a bit fiddly to work with on high resoltuion screen and which does have some imperfections with its features, but it can sure spill out really nice effects. Naturally, only if the photography was alright beforehand. (The lighting is why I don´t use flash, BTW. Makes things a bit harder, but seems worth it.)

I thanked the man who wrote that thing, and he actually appreciated it.

Beautiful picture Ruphus,
Very nice compositoin, also the little action/tension, is she listening to something, looking at something.....also the yought focus, like a child that looks to a circus act......can we still be that open and accesible/ recieptive?....and than as the cream on the cake, the little white rose in her hair....[:D]

Thank you, Peter. :O) Like always, well observed.
It was on a wedding shooting, and her folks seem to have decorated here with love. Kind of spoiled she was in high spirt and producing herself all the time. So, I actually shot her only in a very few moments when she´d be somewhat natural. Like in above pic while she was listenting to someone who was speaking to the crowd.

Of all the local weddings that I have been photographing this one was with the best mood and most natural scenes. -Though it didn´t work out. The couple divorced again after only 6 weeks.
That´s when youngsters have no opportunity to sniff each other out first and in general gather some life experience.

It is really amazing stuff.
Good emulation goes a long way, doesn´t it? It really looks like painting or drawing. Had you shown me this years ago I would had hardly believed it.

Marveling, I was just mentioning to a friend how we were invited to my ex girl-friend´s sister somewhere around `86 or so. And how her boyfriend proudly presented his personal computer to me, demonstrating how one could draw with it. Which meant lining up big squares on screen at that time.
And even about 9 years later with my first computer, graphics hadn´t advanced too far yet.
Similar with digital photography, which the SPIEGEL at around that time estimated that there was no realistic foresight yet for it to even just nearly rival levels of the analog realm within reasonable time frame. (Just as they had mistaken with practicability of flat screeens. Though admitedly it still seems to take a lot for such device to come close to good CRT screens.)

And now it is all surpassing my expectations and then some. ... How the hell do they teach the app to anticipate an aquarelle like that?

Having said above that you need good photography in the first place, to an extend must be corrected too.
Here is a rather mediocre snapshot taken by someone´s wife, which I processed as a demo. The dark shirt gave me a hard time* and made it necessary to apply two sorts of technique, but the outcome ain´t bad and certainly also improved the overall scenery in terms of separation and DOF.
(*It appears to me as if the biggest challenge is overcoming the photorealism of clothings texture.)
