por medio -> Hiss out of my powered speaker (Oct. 22 2015 21:57:02)
|
I've got a powered speaker that I have used for a couple of years now for gigs, and for whatever reason I was playing around with it in the living room the other day. I hadn't used it in my living room probably since the very first time I bought it. What I noticed was that there is a fair bit of "hiss" whenever the sound comes through (i.e. when I play), then this hiss disappears when there's no signal. I had never noticed this in the past but on the occasions when I had used in gigs the space is a lot bigger (and noisier) than my living room so I seriously doubt that I would've notice the hiss if it had been there all along. The hiss is not dependent on the volume so if I play loud the sound of music kind of takes over anyway, but is certainly noticeable when I play softer. I'm taking it to the shop to have a check next week but I thought I would ask here first since I'm really curious... Any ideas? Is this actually normal? Surely not... I'm not very experienced in different speakers. It's a Warfdale Titan. Thanks heaps. And no, the hiss is exactly the same regardless of preamp/mic/cables/parameters.
