Plywood is more stable and stronger than solid wood. Forming guitar sides by gluing together two or more layers of veneer would be easier and more exact than bending solid wood.

ethan, since most upper end guitars have solid wood and not laminates then using laminate sycamore would be due to economics; front end reduced costs at the factory and rear end reduced number of guitars returned due to cracks?
