gshaviv -> Didactic flamenco piano material? (Jan. 6 2006 18:00:33)

A "cyber friend" from another forum is a pianist and very much interested in flamenco. He finds it very difficult to learn, especially understanding the compas, as there is so little material on piano and guitar techniques don't transfer well to piano.

Anyone know any didactic flamenco material for piano?

Sorry...don't. I do find it odd that guitar techniques don't translate to the piano. Rasgueado maybe not but arpeggios and picado could be extended and be very impressive I would think. I have a piano CD by Diego Amador and it's pretty cool...

Yeah, arpeggios and picado is easy, but the probem is with rasguado and tremolo. The other problem I see is that for us guitarist the compas is usually explained with rasguados, and the rythm compas we do with rasguados, so that kinda anchors the rythm and that is hard to transfer.

Yep, I'm familiar with Diego Amador, I have a CD by Pedro Ricardo (piano con duende) and its nice. Has a nice interpretation of Impetu among other things.
