Blondie#2 -> Jose Tanaka's guitar? (Jul. 21 2015 9:22:36)

Did a Foro search but couldn't find the answer - anyone know the make of the cutaway blanca that Tanaka is using in his Youtube videos?

Boaz Elkayam.

I think he is an israeli luthier.

Does Tanaka actually give lessons?
I heard his website isn't being maintained but will take your money.
I tried contacting him about a year ago and never got a response.
I live a few hours away if he is still in Downey, CA

I've no idea whether he gives 1:1 lessons in person or via Skype, but the above almost sounds like he's stealing. You are right that there is no maintenance via the website - no interactivity (so there are unanswered questions from subscribers) and he is apparently no longer adding material... but if you choose the basic monthly subscription you get what you pay for: access to a whole bunch of video lessons, tabs and resources across a wide range of palos, for as long as you choose - so you could just dive in for a month.

Some positive review in the archives, check them out.
IMO its probably not as useful for a beginner, could be a bit bewildering, but a nice resource for intermediate players looking for material/repertoire. I like his stuff, he's clearly influenced by Tomatito but its a lot more accessible to play whilst still sounding authentic. In fact he talks quite a lot about aire, soniquete, groove etc
