jg7238 -> Picado exercise (Jul. 13 2015 2:31:22)

Here is a scale pattern that I took from Rafael. I'm playing it at turtle speed compared to Rafael's 186,000 notes per second clip.... Time to seriously practice...

rombsix -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 13 2015 4:56:18)

Rafa is a monster, dude. I don't think it's fair for someone to compare their picado to his. I think even Javier Conde doesn't get close when it comes to the combination of both speed and POWER that Rafa has. But I know Rafa's secret. I actually asked him, and he told me once. You know what it is? Jamon Serrano. [:D]

Grisha -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 13 2015 5:42:48)

I used to practice this. Didn't quite make it to this speed. I have a strong suspicion that he always drags a finger across 2 strings. This works beautifully for this run. If he doesn't, he's not from this planet.

Fair enough Ramzi! He really is from another world. Well at least I could keep up with him on that buleria run that I posted at the Swap Shop. I thought I wasn't going to pull that one off quite frankly. I'm gonna try that Jamon Serrano then give this run another go... I have to get faster!!! [:D]

I think you are right Grisha... I've been dragging one of my fingers across strings and the results are quite good I have to say. You can play it much faster by doing just that. But D..mn! The power he generates is crazy.

Yes, man... that is the KEY to his sound. Some people can reach his speed, but I have NEVER so far heard anyone match that power. Dare I say even PdL?

There's no way, something this magical has to be jamon iberico! [:D]

If Serrano stands for "from the sierra", that would mean the same. The "porco ibérico" is also called "porco da serra".

Leñador -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 13 2015 13:42:06)

We get crap ham here called jamon Serrano that's not all that. I think Rafa is eating the real deal pata negra stuff.

Sr. Martins -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 13 2015 13:55:39)

Every year I have one of those legs held on a wooden frame. It even comes with a knife and a blade sharpener... weight is around 7kg and lasts months.

But I hate that crap [:D]

Leñador -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 13 2015 14:01:16)

You don't know how lucky you are....so good!
It's $100+ dollars a pound out here.......

Sr. Martins -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 13 2015 14:14:30)

This one here isn't much less than that, it's good quality stuff from a specialized farm. Even the wood that the frame is made of is a good chunk of solid wood (cedar I think).

I hate jamon but this one I can stand the smell. Supermarket grade jamon is horrible, it's like stinky rubbery plastic.

Ricardo -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 14 2015 0:11:30)

Close to PDL speed but no cigar .... I really don't get you speed freaks. He never make it sound like hard pushing edge of ability thing

Grisha -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 14 2015 20:25:49)

Well, I never understood how having a little fun with picado could hurt.

LOL... I should have read your warning before challenging myself. I have been bleeding shame since [:(]

Who's feelings? Mine? Nah man. I'm very happy with my picado speed and tone. I'm just messing around quite frankly. I can go faster than my video posted.[:)]

It was an answer to Grisha's question.

jg7238 -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 15 2015 4:23:11)

Ok, I rule the earth. Thread is officially closed.....

It's all fun Grisha... W Rafa I don't hear dragging it will sound different .... I just don't get the above sentiments personally .... Guy don't sound like more than the typical Paco disciple to me

What strings are you using? Sounds very crisp, nice trebles...

jg7238 -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 15 2015 18:50:55)

Ok, , getting closer to Rafa's speed but clearly lack the power on this run when I drag... hmmmm... Ricardo might be on to something? This guy could be from another galaxy.. I'm still aiming for the power on this run.... Back to practicing...

Grisha -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 15 2015 18:54:22)

Excellent, jg! That's faster than I ever played it.

jg7238 -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 15 2015 19:00:57)

Thanks Grisha.... You are too generous man!

JohnWalshGuitar -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 15 2015 19:26:52)

That's crazy fast Juan!

Sr. Martins -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 15 2015 19:35:05)

Seems like we need a picado challenge to get half the foro in.[:D]

Grisha -> RE: Picado exercise (Jul. 15 2015 19:46:50)

I have a history of no participation... It's like an illness of some sort with me. I just disappear.
