I was looking for a guitar mute to be able to practice without disturbing the rest of the family while watching TV and found this device on Amazon: http://tiny.cc/nwcb0x it's also available at Stringsbymail.com. I don't know if it has been reviewed here before but I felt like sharing my experience. It is a simple device and probably similar to using a sponge under the strings, but it is a more elegant solution and for less than $7! I thought it was worth a try. I've been using it for a couple of days and I like it a lot! I've been using it to practice rasgueados and It has helped me to focus in getting more evenness (equally spaced notes). It is fun to play with the mute on, you get kind of a pizzicato sound. The strings still vibrate some, especially the basses, but it a very subdued way. And as an added bonus, when you remove it your guitar sounds so bright and open that makes it more enjoyable to play. Mike Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with this company.
