Hello guys,

I just found that on Barbero plan (by lewis) the soundhole measures only 83mm, is that normal ? I heard that when the soundhole is small the basses will be good and vice versa meaning if the soundhole is big there will be more trebles, what is your opinion ?

It's at the lower end of normal range. A smaller soundhole is one of the factors which will lower the air resonance but it is not really correct to generalize about it's effect on the strength of bass and treble.

83 is small. I generally build around 86 - 87mm.

This is one of the subjects that has been discussed here and there many times. Both by persons who build guitars and also by those who build them in their head.[&:]
There hasn´t been a general consensus about anything on this subject.

I´ve tried different soundhole sizes and I have no comments on what will change if you change the size. On the other hand, I´ve never gone to extremes and have only worked within the 85 - 88mm range.

I have gone down to 76mm, but only for a 7 string guitar where I was wanted to support the low B string. It worked, And I got a really solid response there.
IMHO there is no need to go small for a standard tuned guitar.
If you are building from an accurate plan I'd say go with it, there may be other factors in the design that work well with that soundhole size.

Don´t forget that you have to get your hand inside for future repairs[;)]
