LeƱador -> RE: Picado Exercise in Baroque form!!! (Jul. 3 2015 16:21:26)

You're a monster Juan..... Imma start working on 3 finger picado so non-guitar players think I'm that fast lol

...or maybe instead of thinking you're fast they'll think you're a big Iron Maiden fan, that will depend on the outcome. [sm=lol.gif]

@Sr. Martins: May very well be! But this exercise is more about picado control rather than speed.

@Rodrigovalt: Thanks alot. Have fun with it. :)

@Bliblablub: No problem. I'll see if I can do an upload later.

@Lenador: I like the 3 finger picado as well. I like to use it once in awhile. I think Paco de Lucia uses it in "Monasterio de Sal" for those first string runs.

Regardless of speed, Malmsteen has been playing similar phrases (pedal tones, the chord progression, etc) for the last 4 decades. It's the Bach thing.

Now do the Paganini thing. [:D]

Oh, definitely! For sure... I know that. You mean Eugene's trick bag? [:D]

Ahah, Eugene's trick bag would be even better. I'll play the harmonica for you. [sm=tongue.gif]

Has every guitarist in the world watched "crossroads"?? [:D][:D][:D]

Eugenes trick bag is loosely based on Paganinis 5th caprice. I worked out a version many years ago when i was in still in my metal to flamenco crossover period. I remember it being a monster to memorise. Here is a very lovely young lady who has nailed it though.

Great movie! William Kanengiser (who plays all the classical parts) arranged a nice version of Eugene's Trick bag for classical guitar which is a cool arpeggio/picado workout. Eugene is playing it in his room near the start of the film.
