Hi friends - someone gave me a brazilian cavaquinho where the bridge has come unglued.
The instrument is not worth much even with bridge glued on, so I'd like to see if I can glue it back myself. I have never done this.

The goal is to have it be properly done so the intonation is reasonably good. Doesn't have to be perfect. It's mostly for playing from nut to 5th fret; chords.

Any chance I can pull this off? How do I locate where to glue the bridge down? Can I use standard wood glue?
Yes, I can and will do internet research on this, so if anyone has any quick advice they want to give, I'd be much obliged

Thanks

Take over to Stewart Port in Oakland his shop is in the 5th Ave Marina -

He can do it and it won't cost an arm and a leg. You need special clamps and hot hide glue.

If the bridge has come off, then it should be fairly obvious where to glue it back on. Changing the location of the bridge will have some knock on effects such as have to refinish the top.

With a small instrument you could get away with using light clamping pressure using the back as the caul. You can also use Titebond which is fairly easy to get hold of.

For best results though take it to a pro who would be able to see any pit falls that may need to be over come first.
