flaco -> Arpeggio (apoyando) - what about the thumb and D string ? (May 28 2015 14:50:46)

Hola,

Well, I am actually practicing arpeggio pami and pimami and I have a problem when it comes to the D string.
Since I must play apoyando, what do I do when playing the D string ?
Do I put my thumb on the A string or do I let it free, while playing with ami/imami ?

Thank you :)

Edit : I did make some researches on the foro but couldn't find an answer...

My thumb will usually sit and rest on A after I play on the E and sit and rest on D after I play on the A, but when I play on the D my thumb usually just touches the G and quickly moves back up to where it's; (A) comfortable, like the A string and (B) let's the D string ring and (C) gets out of the way so the G string can ring after I pluck it with my i finger.

Thank you Leñador !
I'll practice to get the "back to A" automatism. :)

pami rest and move (back to D string to repeat, not A string)
pimami...free if it is fast.

for same reason a fast pima will also have to be free as adjacent string needs to be free to ring.

here are some ripping fast pima arps from 4th string to first, and you can clearly see why it needs to be free stroke (tirando) at 2:46
