Ra -> Dani De Moron's new CD (Apr. 16 2015 19:39:20)

Did anyone hear his new CD yet?

To me it sounds like an overkill. Too much of everything. Plus his tone is thin to my taste. What do you guys think?

I remember a video of him accompanying Canales from some years ago, loved how he plays there, very tasteful and precise accompanying baile. But now days don't know.... Seen Arcangel a couple of times and there is quite a contrast between Dani de Moron and Miguel Angel Cortes. MAC has such a powerful tone and drive

I feel like Iam listening to steel string guitars.. lacks earthiness [&:]

His videos on youtube with just a microphone on stage are way more exciting than this.

Just shows that overproducing flamenco kinda cuts it's balls and turns great musicianship into wallpaper music.

I find this to be true with a lot of players.......

I did not like it. I agree with the tone comments. And I think it sounds extremely similar to the first album...

I don't know what's the foro's general opinion on an album by Vicente & El Pele called "Canto" but to me it is one of the most awesome sounding modern era flamenco records.

It might even be a good gateway to Vicente's music to someone who never got on with his solo albuns. His album "Paseo de Gracia" would be, IMO, the next logical step.

I love that album. The slow seguirillas track is amazing. At first it starts off sounding like Tangos but the underlying accent is seguirillas.

Its definitely similar to his first album but I'm a buyer as I love his playing. I just wish he would put a touch more fire into some of his pieces. Sometimes it's too laid back.

It's really too bad, the whole album sounds like soft jazz. Dani is an incredible guitarist (see below) so I was really looking forward to this CD... Oh well.

That is a great piece and I love that he's actually digging in a bit.

Flamenco guitar albums with scooped mids should be considered a crime.

Leñador -> RE: Dani De Moron's new CD (Apr. 22 2015 13:58:49)

That happened a lot to 80's thrash metal albums, I'm not a fan of the scooped mids.....

Yep, the mids are where the heart of the guitar is. Late 80's and early 90's death metal also suffers from that ridiculous trend. I think they thought it sounded more modern but didn't quite figured that if they scooped the whole mix it would sound like ass.

Even if you don't like Vicente's music, pay attention to his mixes. He knows where his mids need to be.

On my studio monitors his new cd sounds just wonderfully...
I like the stereo imaging and the transparency of it....and I like the (in lack of a better term) " intellectual" approach of his compositions.

Exactly why I can't stand it. [:D]

I like noise and dirt on "world music" productions or else it sounds too sterile. Long trebly fake reverbs, midless guitars that sound like steel strings or bodyless silent guitars and general lack of agressiveness... hmm.. doesn't work for me no matter how good the music could have been.
