Hi,
any opinion about the pegheds or the equivalent mechanic pegs from Carlos amp?
Are they liable? Any issue in the insallation?
I actually have traditional wood pegs on a flamenco guitar of mine and considering to install them.

Thanks

I've had two guitars with pegheads. Never had any issue. While I love the tradition of wooden pegs I would always go with pegheads if I had the choice between the two just to not have to fight with tuning. It's a great balance with the 1:4 ratio, you get smoother tuning while at the same time tuning up much quicker than normal mechanical tuners.

I have had 2 real pegheads, without problems. My next guitar from Jero Perez will have traditional pegs, though I know they will be handmade by his father, a master carpenter.

Pegheds are a solution to a problem which does not exist, in my opinion.

I like pegheds but I have nothing against wooden pegs.
Follow the installation paper, and its not difficult. You´ll need a reamer.
I cant comment on the other brand because I´ve never seen or touched them.

Had a Barbero in the late 70's with traditional pegs. Don't remember having any trouble at all, but there's a lot of things I don't remember from back then.

Have four guitars with pegheds of which I installed two sets. Love em; fast, easy, uncluttered.

When thy are well proportioned and not mistreated pegs are fine (though not close to good mechanical tuners).

The problem is when pegs are either built with wrong diameter or wrong degree of taper (like with my old Ramirez) or mistreated by former owners, or both. Then they can be a real nuisance.

I think the only true advantage they have is their little weight.

Morante,

I thought you own the world´s best guitar. Yet, still shopping? [8D]

No. It is just that Jeronimo Perez is family and I feel I ought to have one of his guitars.

Love the looks of pegs! The new ones with the rato work amazingly!
And it will keep away most people asking if they can play your guitar![:D]
Im seeing(and hearing) more and more about Jeronimo Perez and Peña Vargas guitars.
Glad to see some room for new builders!

I have experience with both types--a 1960's guitar with real pegs and a 2010 guitar with Pegheads. I prefer real pegs but do admit the Pegheads work very well. My beef with Pegheads is they only come in black and not rosewood color and they seem to be a few milimeters shorter than the real deal. They may come in rosewood color and various lengths but I could not find any info on the Peghead website.

Hello Guys,

How do you inlay the white dot inside the wooden peg ?

the method I have seen used, and once did myself, was to use a drill press and clamp. once the hole is drilled (about 1-2mm deep) the material of choice is glued in.
