Hi,
As you might guess by my handle, my name is Phil. I am in upstate NY, Binghamton. I am just beginning to learn to play Flamenco, and am trying out a Navarro student negra. I am looking forward to comparing it to the blanca model before I decide which to keep!

Welcome from the other side of manifest destiny! [:D]
I hear the Navarros are pretty decent, you do have the luxury of having a great luthier a little closer to home though. Andy Culpepper is somewhere in your neighborhood and may be worth contacting. He's a member here as well.

Hello Leñador,
Thanks for the welcome! Yes I am fortunate to have Andy nearby!
I am a little curious about the geography of Flamenco here in the US. Are there more luthiers, teachers and serious players concentrated in the east or the west? North vs. south?

We have a thread here called "The foro map", there is a link there to a google map. Taking a look at that might help answer your question. And if you wanna put yourself on the map then go for it.

Welcome to foro flamenco.

It feels like San Francisco and DC have the biggest flamenco scenes but I think you could find flamencos in all the major cities.
