sam80--three ways to go here. 1. have a guitar built with the specs you want. 2. try to find a guitar with a wider nut--say the guitar you mentioned (if available and/or in your price range or 3. modify the guitar you have (an inexpensive chinese made guitar). the first two options will cost you a good chunk of change but the trade off is that you will get a much better guitar. the last option could be done for about $20 and some time if you decide to do it; more if you have someone else do it. you will not be able to widen the nut but you can change the string spacing with a new nut. i would imagine the string spacing on the nut on your guitar is probably 41-42mm. you can buy pre-slotted nuts on ebay for about $10 with a string spacing up to 44mm. of course you will sacrifice a little room from e string to the edge of the fretboard. it is do-able. as to the neck, you can strip of the poly goop off the neck and shape it the way you want. once shaped you can use off the shelf polyurethane as the finish. i did this procedure to guitar last year and the off the shelf polyurethane, to me, allows for a better feel than the catalyzed poly goop used in factories.
