Well, I hate to disappoint you all but I'm not trolling. I was just busy the last few days and didn't get a chance to get back to this until now. Thank you all for the great responses and the videos. I have to say, looking at all the posted video links I'm quite surprised to see how many players make pretty solid contact with the adjacent string. I don't know how I didn't notice this before. Ramzi's explanation accurately describes how I've been approaching this thus far. I understand that you can't get a strong sound by going completely vertically from the fretboard. I guess how I've been doing it is more like a letter J shape. Right at the string, the movement is lateral but then the finger comes up to avoid the adjacent string. So down-and-out. I guess this made sense to me since there could obviously be situations where you want the adjacent string to ring so I ended up practising all my pull-offs this way. Anyway, thank you all for your feedback! Cheers, N
