I am back taking photos again after a long break. Good excuse to walk the dog and get some exercise.

Very nice shot, with the texture and stain of the wall, something I don't always remember to look for.

Thanks, the background is very important and in this case, provided a counterpoint to the pillar, giving some depth.

I am spoiled with the light bouncing around the old sandstone in my city. It can be quite magical.

Very nice picture Simon!
Cool how you capture the movement. The ball is still sharp, and the foot from the boy moves.
The overal picture is very beautifull too, the incoming light, the pillar.
Masterpiece!

The picture also brings in my memory an old photographer from Amsterdam in the 50ties.
His name was Kees scherer, I think you will like his pictures also.

Thanks Peter, I think it is my most successful street image to date. The interesting thing about the Ricoh GR is the TAV setting, where you can choose the shutter speed AND aperture for depth of field and capturing (or blurring) movement. The ISO is then automatically adjusted for the correct exposure. Something that is impossible with film and truly unique to digital.

I checked out Scherer's photos of Amsterdam and it reminded me how little has changed in that wonderful city. He had a eye for sure and I didn't realise how influential he was. Thanks for the recommendation.
