barblackmore -> PACO DE LUCIA UNEARTHED FOOTAGE? (Jan. 14 2015 15:19:09)

Today I was hearing Paco de Lucia´s “Live One Summer Night”, and reading its booklet, and discovered something interesting
On the 1984 tour commentary, it is mentioned that they played on Stockholm, Sweden. It was a small gig in the GRAND HOTEL, and it was broadcasted on TV (it hasn´t been uploaded to youtube yet, don´t know if someone kept a vhs recorded from the broadcast)
That alone would sound interesting…is there a possibility that the master of this footage has been preserved at the Tv Channel? Could we expect a dvd or any other release someday?
I would say that there is a STRONG possibility that this footage has survived
On this year, Whitesnake released this dvd http://www.amazon.co.uk/Live-In-1984-Back-Bone/dp/B00NO5BVCE (Before discovering flamenco, I was a HUGE fan or Deep Purple and its relatives bands, and i´m still ejoying them)
The dvd includes a performance in the GRAND HOTEL, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN. The year? 1984! Very, very close to the Paco de Lucia´s date
Let´s hope that De Lucia´s footage has not been wiped...
If they kept the Whitesnake footage, why they would wipe Paco de Lucia´s one?
Just theory would suggest that De Lucia´s footage is still alive in some vault...let´s hope so!

Well, there is plenty of footage of the sextet out there. THe material will not differ much from that available from other countries.
What matters maybe is only the filming quality. I for one feel the sextet was at a higher level of refinement musically by the time of
the readily available "Live in Germany" DVD.

What is really missing is footage from the SECOND tour of the guitar trio (1982-3), featuring Passion Grace and Fire material. I have
only found one really bad quality concert bootleg, and some short clips on austrailian TV of Aspan and Chiquito (Sounds program). I
find it hard to believe there is not more archival footage of that concert tour.

I also feel very strange the abscence of quality video material of the guitar trio
I have those bootlegs you mention, and yes, the quality is awful
But I have a crystal clear audio recording of a date on the Beacon Theatre provided by the old "Dr Fusion" blog. It also includes the complete opening acoustic set of Steve Morse (another fave of mine)
That blog closed years ago, but there´s other source of bootlegs readily available now

You can find Guitar Trio Bootlegs there....
