If anyone noticed that I dropped off the map for the last 3 weeks, it wasn't just a food coma from the holidays, I've actually been working on this project. My wife and I just bought a house which had a two car garage. I would rather make guitars than park my car indoors so I commenced to turning it into a workshop!

The first step was tearing out a kitchen in the back of the garage (I have no idea). In the first picture that's already gone and we're furring out the studs to 6 inches. Then we built a wall part way down to help support the ceiling joists and make the space a little smaller. Total shop space is 19' x 13' with a 19' x 6' storage area. The garage doors also had to come off and we framed in that wall and put a 3 foot entry door.

The second picture is a little gruesome, there were actually three electrocuted mice in the old shutoff box. One had its little paw outstretched...

All new electrical wiring and more outlets. Insulation/vapor barrier/drywall.
Finishing drywall is actually fun for me [8D]

Nice! Why did you fur out the walls? To fit more insulation? You gunna drywall it? Dunno jack about building guitars but I do know about building houses. Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. Sounds like your pretty capable on your own though. Post more as you go along! [:D]

Hey Lenador, what do you think of my taping jig? Just pull it through the mud....

As of now the shop is painted and ready to move all my stuff in. I will post another picture when I get all set up.

Thanks for the comments guys. I got all set up and back to luthiering today... will post a picture tomorrow.

It's currently 5 degrees Fahrenheit here but my little electric baseboard heater is doing fine with it. [:)]
