rojarosguitar -> Alessi F6 Flamenco tuners (Dec. 19 2014 21:55:01)

Anybody tried Alessi Flamenco F6 tuners?

beno -> RE: Alessi F6 Flamenco tuners (Dec. 19 2014 22:13:39)

that's what I wanted to buy, but finally did not, as the screw holes from my original machine heads didn't fall the same place, and You cannot completely make them disappear as far as I know...it's a pity

I kind of understand, though probably I would finally value function over esthetics. One can close the old holes with cedro and if halfways well done, it just looks like what it is: a guitar with new and better tuners.

If You REALLY value function over aesthetics, you can go with any of alessi's other machineheads, and don't even have that little flaw...haha

Aesthetics are important as well...

I think I've looked at almost every machine head avaible out there on the net, and liked this one the most..but I decided not to spend money on something great looking like this, to include some ugly thing -maybe not ugly, but noticeable at the first glance- right on the middle of it....that's just me

Yes, but part of the function is also the weight and F6 is the lightest machine made by Alessi, it seems ... but I'm not arguing, I might not like the look of it too, after all.
So what did you take in the end?

Nothing yet...
but I like this one maybe the most:

I prefer this kind of plates better than the hauser style ones, though like the hauser as well
I had a Rubner before and worked just great...I have schallers on it right now, and works perfectly, but I don't like the look...I could choose a rodgers, they have some nice ones, but they're way to expensive....

beno -> RE: Alessi F6 Flamenco tuners (Dec. 20 2014 21:50:17)

it seems rodgers also have the lightweight style:

sorry for the FB link, but they doesn't have that model on their official website

Well, if the price doesn't count Rodgers is certainly cool (though may have the same disadvantage of showing your old holes, because it's very unlikely the holes will be same place as your old ones, unless you order it custom made).

Rubner unfortunately cannot hold up to Alessi technically IMHO
