JasonM -> Luthiers willing to teach grasshoppers (Dec. 15 2014 4:18:33)
|
Do any of you luthiers teach or give lessons? I feel like many luthiers are too busy or wouldn't want someone standing over their shoulder. At least here in the states. I think I'd be lucky if I could find a foro member here on the east coast who has built a guitar or two.... Or what about a Lesson or Q&A over Skype even? Anything is better than books alone. Ive been doing some woodworking for about a year now and have built up some tools. Searching the forums, I see there have been a ton of threads on how to get started. I'm not really pipe dreaming to become an apprentice. But it would be really nice to have a local classical guitar builder show me a few tips, or like a paid lesson or something, that I could apply to a flamenco guitar. Otherwise my resources would be books and this forum. Travelling to Stephen hills workshop would never work for me. Has anyone ever contacted a local luthier, or the contrary, maybe find someone near them willing to give a little instruction
