Sr. Martins -> RE: Alhambra 5P classical convert for Flamenco? (Oct. 23 2014 16:09:25)

I've played regularly Alhambras from model 1 to 7, except 5 [:D] They are generally quite acceptable but also overbuilt. Mahogany necks make them weigh even more. Pay attention to the string spacing at the tie block, some were drilled by blind people. I've had a 4F model for a year and a half and it's quite nice now.. but I modified many things (bone saddle, shaved tie block, sanded inside, removed finnish from the underside of the fretboard...). Now it's very responsive and loud. It has a bigger body, I think it's the same size for all models up until 10 (which is slimer). Also, the fretboard has a slight radius that makes it very confortable. Edit: What I mean is forget that **** and buy a proper (doesn't mean expensive) flamenco guitar. Just do it and forget this neverending search for the cheap holy grail. Seems like you're getting further away from the point.
