The thumb use under picado attacks is necessarily different than the attack under arpegios.

Why do we care about thumb attack in picado? The thumb attack in picado would be still the same as that in arpegio. But I see no problem because arpegio and picado technique is not thumb driven. You can rest your thumb in picado wherever you like. Usually on the 6th string as you know. Obviously when you lift your elbow, the thumb glides above the 6th string.

It is not. Just learn the passage (the arp to scale passage of Panaderos) I showed you and you will see it feels different to arpegio or tremolo. I am just saying if the thumb is not going to be involved in a musical passage, the posture can change visually. As I said, earlier, work on the actual music passage and stop making uneducated guesses about solving problems that don’t exist.

At 3:27 Pituquete is doing arpegio apoyando. He can easily play picado in this arp hand posture.

He can play picado in this hand posture because it is a picado hand posture to begin with. You can also see his shoulder pulling up right before he starts getting his hand in picado posture.

He is playing on bass strings. That's why he has to keep his elbow slightly higher than usual.

Compare it with other examples in this video at 0:49 or pimami pattern for Solea at 1:34. It's still his arpegio hand posture. My arp hand posture looks the same because of my long forearm.

The thing is he has the same hand posture for both arpegio and picado. Or the difference is minimal.

Then, same for PDL, and it is a non-issue ie “drawback”.
