Years ago I read an interview with Niño Ricardo. When the subject of nails came up, he reportedly held up his right hand and announced, "!Uñas de papel" ["paper nails"]. When asked whether he did anything to them, he replied, "Pegamento." [glue]. In those pre-Superglue days, "pegamento" meant what we called "airplane glue", composed mainly of nitrocellulose and acetone. I remember using some about 15 years ago when I broke a nail working on my boat. Breaking a nail is a very rare occurrence for me. I didn't have any silk around for the repair. I can't find a decent photo of it on the net, but Mario Escudero's "Fiesta Flamenca" album had a good shot of his right hand, featuring a generous application of pegamento. RNJ
