Ruphus -> Thank you for bringing Rafael Cortés to my attention (Sep. 5 2014 8:47:02)

Not so long ago I followed some fellow members link and was imspressed by a recording of Rafael Cortés. Everything was great to my ears. From composition, over phrasing and touch down to a very appealing recording quality.

In enjoyed listening, left a positive comment, and a while later when I remembered that sonic fingerprint / wanting to check the artistt out, I found to have forgotten his name. -With the Alzheimer effected search engine of the foro unable to spill any bones.

But last night me came across some names somewhere and recockgnized the man´s name. Typed it into google and followed one of the links to youtube.

And listening to just this one recording was enough for the time I had last night. Kept listening to it from start and realized that I want all his albums.

Even my hyper sensitive sense for plagiate won´t flash: "Jango Rheinhard!" or "Al diMeola!" in respect of above take. It has just too much personality and dedication for to appear like a mere derivation, and it definitly swings on its own broomstick. Good for an unspoilt degustation.

Should you click on it, I recommend making it loud. It deserves it in every way.

To the Germans on board: I read that Cortés lives in Germany and gigs in the Ruhrpott / Rheinland!
Already informed my friends there.

Thank you,

Ruphus

I heard/saw him at the Rheingau Musikfestival two years ago. It was unbelievable.

Rufus

I know exactly how you feel about Rafael Cortes - You just can' t get enough videos and media material on him. Most of the interviews on him are in German. I came across him by accident a few years ago, while search for old Diego Del Gastor videos. His technical abilities command your attention. But, his musical qualities inspire me. After playing for fifty years, I've gotten stale. Rafael gets me out of that rut.

Absolutely agreed.
This is not about another athletic spectacle, but before all musical ingredients.

There exists a lot flabbergasting evidence of dexterity out there, or impressive progression to delve into, but the least of it being what I would put into the stereo for digestible yet original appearing, plain ear candy.

Cortes seems to deliver that very well.
Simply good music garnished with two handful of great touch and virtuosity.
Love it! :O)

Thank you Ruphus. I also like Rafael's La Meiga very much. I will searching for his CDs and music notation.
