This bailaor sems to think the world owes him a living, which is not true in any sphere. Artists get work because they are good and make contacts: if he gets no work, while others do, he should be asking why. There are great artists from Cádiz, but in Cádiz (the European Capital of Unemployment), there is no work. Instead of complaining they go looking, in Sevilla, Madrid. José Valencia won several important prizes as a cantaor p´alante: but he found offers of work declining so opted for a new career singing for el baile, with such success that offers of solo work are returning. When David Palomar had just had his first son, he was offered a 6 week tour of Japan: he went, leaving his wife and week old baby behind. To succeed as an artist is difficult and requires sacrifice.
