Strangely enough the fan brace design looks very similar to an old 1917 Santos pattern I have. I have used this pattern for some classical guitars, in the past.

Never though about using it for a flamenco. Thanks for sharing.

I spoke with Erez a few times what I was looking for and originally I was leaning toward a negra. I decided to go with his blanc, leaving the rest to his skill. Erez is a real gentleman to deal with.

Your second photo--what a beautiful way to hold the guitar for shaping the neck! I wish I had thought of that long ago. I have the same vise.... I wonder what that thing (caul?) is doing over the bridge area.

Would you not be concerned about strain exerted on the neck / sides joint and the corpus / soundboard?
Looking at it feels creepy to me.

I clamp the guitar the exact same way for neck shaping. You're not exerting much pressure on the neck so it feels totally safe. The neck-body joint is very strong to that kind of stress anyway (not quite as much for side to side until the fingerboard is on).

Thanks for pointing that out in photo #2. I am definitely going to try that method for shaping the neck. Looks like it would be pretty simple to construct an angled support to place between the bench top and fingerboard when exerting downward pressure during the sanding process.
I also have that same vise; mounted on MDX so that I can place it anywhere I want .. most of the time I don't even clamp it in place.
