Last night we had a great evening of cante puro, but the star was the son of Rancapino, accompanied by Manolito, son of el Niño Jero. His father was in tears: I was standing beside him during the performance and he was singing along with his favourite student.
The highlight came at the end of his performance, when Paco Cepero came on stage: Alonso sang a great Zambra, composed for him by Cepero.
Then Antonio Reyes, with el Niño Jero y Manolito Jero: he sang a great tangos as only los gitanos can.
Then el gran maestro, Juan Villar with el Niño Jero: standing ovations all night!
Look out for Alonso´s first CD, which he is recording with Cepero.
