Thanks everyone! quote:
A good thing how these days babies are allowed to pass exit when they feel like it. Some time ago, it was thought that they ought to come `on time´ and when they would not it was interfered. In my case resulting in a 48 hour battle in the delivery room, with use of tools like a forecep and two large men pulling with a twisted sheet over old lady´s belly; and with me hardly ever feeling well rested ever since. Today birth is rather supposed to be a calm landing, and at that probably very valuably so. Wesley certainly looks as if the trip was okey-dokey. I think it still depends on the situation... my wife was 2 days early but if she had gone 7 days past her due date they would have induced her which we were a bit afraid of. I think they've traded the forceps for some kind of vacuum mechanism, or C/section but I think we just got lucky to avoid all those things. She was a champ and didn't even need an epidural for pain relief. We had a midwife assisting the birth instead of a doctor so that probably helped it all feel pretty natural.
