quote:
When I was in Spain I ate pig every day in some form or another. Partly because Spaniards don't know how to cook a steak. And partly because Spaniards only recognize it as food if it contains ham (or some other pig product). Except for mariscos. I laugh at the recipes in Spanish newspapers because they usually manage to include ham, even where totally unnecessary. I saw a 'recipe' for boiled eggs - no, really - you need a recipe? Yes, it turns out that you need a recipe because these were boiled eggs made authentically Spanish - by putting little bits of ham on top. In Spain, adding ham makes things edible.
