I agree with Ron and Tom-younger guys have no idea how lucky they are to have the tools that are available today. Compas programs, dvd's of the greats playing their music slow, books and books of transcribed solos, methods, it's just unreal. As recently as the early eighties, you could count the commercially available transcription books on your hands. A German guy came out with the first PdL tunes in tab, and they were about $20.00 for one song, which actually was a bargain then, because, to learn Paco's zap, for example, could have taken you a half dozen lessons or more at 30.00 a piece, assuming you could find a guy who knew it, which you probably couldn't. The Gerardo or Tomatito dvd is worth at least a thousand dollars in 1980's money. The free program, amazing slow downer-what would people have paid for that in the 80's? At least 500.00 OTHO, people play with better technique today, probably in part because of these tools, so the standard continues to rise.
