saw them here in DC back in april. Seems the idea is not new, similar (or identical?) material decades ago with John Williams. Williams is often criticized for being a cold robotic player....all I can say is, ah hem, colombianas here....soniquete?

LOL, dig the smirk on Paco's face [:D]

Honestly I have a soft spot in my heart for any classical guitarist that sticks his neck out like that doing something publicly they know they're not going to do as well as the pros. Big props to Mr. Fisk for that.

On another note, in all seriousness. Do they teach classical guitarists to move they're head and face around to the music to help them "feel it" more? I noticed classical players are super animated…..
p.s. I'm not talking sh*T i'm making an observation……...

If I remember correct, Paco Peña also did the Farruca with Eduardo Falu.

23 Frets on Elliot's guitar! - haven't seen that before. Add one more and you could shred a 4 octave E scale.

Last time I saw Eliot was in Cuernavaca, Mexico in about 2000. At the intermission I said to a young classical pro, whom I admire a great deal, "Sometimes he plays so fast, it seems almost as though he is parodying himself."

The reply was, "I'm always in awe. He has such a great time out there on stage!"

I saw a new approach here to the sound port. Eliot modifies the sound by sticking his shirt collar or his chin in it. New possibilities!

Great fun. I like Eliot in flamenco better than Bream or Williams. He may not be perfect, but he gets into the swing of things. Paco likes it.

Some classical players mug a lot--Bream and Pavel Steidl come to mind--others are calmer in demeanor. As a teenager Eliot took regular lessons from Segovia. I don't think Segovia taught mugging. [:D]

You could have balanced a glass of water on Segovia’s head.

(When Angel Romero blows kisses to the audience I always think of Segovia and laugh at the contrast.)

Eliot loves flamenco and has listened to it a lot. Because of that I felt very comfortable studying under him. He always understood my strengths and ideals.

If you are curious, some of his favorite artists are Sabicas, Paco de Lucia (of course, especially the late one), Gerardo Nunez and Tomatito.
