A buddy here at work found this on the side of the road last night - a quick google search suggests it might be something to do with brass/woodwind instrument repair. Any ideas on what this is?

If you turn your head to the side the last one looks a lot like Darth Vader.

Looks like some sort of crimping/swaging tool, until you read musical instrument on
the side then it's a mystery.

Is that you home shop, or workplace in the background? First thing I noticed
was the Milling Machine ...

Seems that Erick Brand specialized in Brass Band instrument repair tools which
would makes sense.

A great T-Shirt I discovered during the search says - "I don't need Google, my
Wife know's everything"

Hey Jeff, it's my workplace - good eye, btw! We have a small CNC, lathe, milling machine etc for prototyping stuff. Home shop is similar, just more sawdust [;)]

I like the t-shirt quote - I already asked my wife about this tool, she didn't know either [:D]

The tool is a CED clamp--Compas Encouragement Device. If a guitarist screws up the singer or dancer would place the head of the guitarist in the device and start screwing. Needless to say a guitarist either gets it correct the next time or goes on to play some other type of music.

by the way, it does sort of look like vader.
