loop -> question about 4th strings! (Dec. 13 2005 15:18:55)

when i changed new stringsd(such as daddario ej46,45). the silver color of the 4,5,6 string faded very fast(just in two days),and the bronze apeared, especially the 4th string!

What's the question?

If its 'why is this happening?' I've no idea, two days is quick for discoloration. Where in the world are you? If you live in a rainforest that might explain things [:D]

On a slightly more sensible note, some people find they kill strings quickly as they have very acidic perspiration.

Another possibility is that the strings were very old stock to start with.

If you need longer lasting strings try the D'Addario Composites or my current favourite, Savarez Alliance.

damn :-)

Have you checked the packet ? or the bin, are you sure you didnt take and put the same strings on ??

No joke, its possible, i have done dumber things like take the old strings off the guitar and the new one out of the packets after i am left to guess whats is what, like the 2cond string can look very very similar to the 1st string.

Not to mention if you changing brands Some 1E strings are as thick as some 3G strings from other brands.

i should mention that i dont make this mistakes anymore now because i am smarter this days [8|]

i am living in a reasonable dry enviroment. since the strings discolored, and they becoming rust very soon, the sound muffed and the pitch altered. i just can't afford to change the strings too often.

Cloth Ears -> RE: question about 4th strings! (Dec. 13 2005 17:36:52)

I replace the basses every week.but the trebles every two/three weeks.

My sweat is acid. I guess as Jon pointed out...you also have this condition. REmember to clean the strings with a jay cloth between pieces.

Before I could afford this, I played copper strings that were dull and lifeless, but still enjoyed the sound very much.

However it would not be right to let my Vicente Carrillo 1f negra go without new strings.
