zata -> PACO'S STAMP CANDIDATE FOR BEST DESIGN (May 28 2014 15:09:51)

At this link there's an article that explains that Paco's stamp is a candidate for Best Philatelic Design.

http://andaluciainformacion.es/campo-de-gibraltar/409072/el-sello-de-paco-de-lucia-candidato-a-mejor-diseno-filatelico/

The winner is chosen my popular vote open to everyone, and the link for voting is:

www.posteurop.org/europa2014

The instructions are in English. The complete series of "Musical Instruments" is shown, so you have to scroll down to Spain and tick Paco's stamp.

No money or glory involved. For me, personally, it's just another way of doing something positive to work out the sadness.

I have just voted, but we are dealing with people with no idea:

"The guitar is a plucked string instrument. It consists of a wooden sound box, a neck with a finger board and frets and the six strings, three made of gut and three of silk cased in metal.[:D][:D]

I'm intrigued by Poland's entry. "The stamp shows a fragment of the Polish instrument - the white wedding goat" ?! :-)

I am with you. Voted. A Poignant and Beautiful tribute to Paco De Lucia.

I can't help adding a post scriptum about one of the stamps. My poor old Italy, who could wickedly issue such sad depiction? With all the triumphant musical instruments that were and are made there, with the enviable names of the greatest luthiers of all times, Stradivarius, Amati, Montagnana etc. and all the beautiful music that inspired the world, from Vivaldi and Boccherini to the Opera's masters, Verdi, Puccini and company, is a shepherd's in his sunday parade outfit blowing a long horn really the most representative portrait Italy wants to offer?

voted. once again the basque are not represented. dang!

i was surprized hungary's instrument was the doromb and not the cymbalom or even the violin--two instruments very much associated with the country.

Giacomo,

To me personally it is interesting to see traditional country man´s dress.
I have seen thelike from diverse European regions but never from Italy. ( The most fashion oriented population on the planet. [ I used to tease my Apulian girl-friend, by asking what´s up with all that focus on dress while there being so much of poverty and shortage still in the country.])

You are right with no prominent / most typical selection of instrument. In a way I find that interesting though. ( Whilst on the other hand welcoming the fact that there have been no castanets or winds been choosen for the Spanish stamp.)

Thank you for your reply, Ruphus.

However, I feel a bit guilty entertaining an ancillary conversation about Italy's fashion and music history on this thread -which is dedicated to Paco De Lucia's Stamp (so please vote); perhaps we should begin a separate dialogue?

It´s alright, and the Italian ( to my understanding ) overdone passion for fashion is outbalanced by the refinement of their lovely cusine, which I love to death.
( You know the movie "La Grande Bouffe"? I am thinking such with Italian food could be a way to eventually depart.)

Me already voted for the Paco stamp.
