ddoonie -> Wedding Reception Entrance Song (May 25 2014 1:28:21)

Can anyone recommend a song for our wedding reception? Essentially when the bridal party enters and then bride and groom. There should be some sort of climax at the point of the bride and groom entering.

Any help would be more than appreciated!

Thanks

ddoonie, do you mean a 'song' as in a score including vocals and lyrics?

Also, are you looking for Flamenco music and/or songs, for guitar?
What instrument/ensemble will you charge with this delicate responsibility?

I am partial to string quartets for weddings.

Last fall, I had the pleasure to officiate my brother in law wedding and in addition to
writing the script for the entire ceremony, I picked the music.

For the entrance and slow march of the Bride (whose fabulous gown was designed and tailored by clients of mine -fashion houses) I chose the ever so celestial (and yet not ubiquitous as the Canon) Mozart's Gran Partita Serenata in SI Bemolle for winds.

I have found and preserved both the original score along with the transcription for Strings, if you should be interested.

Here is a rendition (inevitably, Salieri's legendary monologue from the picture Amadeus comes to mind, enviously describing the heavenly piece):

gj,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, a score including vocals and lyrics. I'm pretty much just looking for a Flamenco song that starts fairly even paced and then builds to a climax - this is for the entrance of the wedding party into the reception.

Unfortunately with a limited budget we'll have to resort to a digital delivery :(

ps. that rendition is beautiful. I may have to pick your brain to develop my classical library.

I know this ain't exactly what your after but it does meet the criteria of starting off even and climaxing in the end in addition to it being legit wedding music.

A Bambera might be good. Dramatic, but followable for non flamenco people.

Or Alborea would be associated with weddings, but musically might not be what you want.
Then there are lots of kinds of Fandangos.

You might listen to some Taranta and Malaguena as these cantes have a kind of build up.

The main four food groups f flameco Alegrias, Sigiuriya Solea and Bulerias all have good structures, but for non flamenco might be difficult. If going for one of these try something like Lole' e Manuel por bulerias. It works in Quentin Tarrantinos movie Kill Bill.

also look at Cuple por buleras there are some nice dramatic things from Bernarda de Utrera on the old records fomr eth 70's. Some real torch songs.

Plus one on Giacomo's Mozart

One possible solution, to reconcile both your inclination for Flamenco and the ceremonial aspect of the bridal march, would be to select one of the songs from Paco Pena "Misa Flamenca".
Here you can listen to each track, http://www.last.fm/music/Paco+Pe%C3%B1a/Pe%C3%B1a:+Misa+Flamenca

Here is the Sanctus, on YouTube:

However, if I may, remember that a wedding is the Bride's most glorious day, and her entrance the most unforgettably moving moment of that day. Please make sure your girl is really happy with the choice of music. That would be a step in the right direction....[;)]

Or just a beautiful song:
Diego "el Cigala"… Fuente Del Conoscimento (solea)
From Diego Cigala and Nino Josele Teatro Real.
Available on Spotify

Query, where art thou.... which country and city?

Didn't ask for something similar last year?

My eight year old grand daughter is going to play guitar and sing J. Cash's "I Walk the Line" as her new mother/bride comes down the aisle, today!

Now that's so adorable. If you can, please post a recording of it.

Thanks everyone for the fantastic replies. I'm going to have to go through all the suggestions with my fiancé to ensure it fulfills our vision. I'll comment on those specifically a bit later.

estebanana - you hit it on the head by stating something that is followable for non-flamenco people as well. Thanks for verbalizing that.

gj Michelob - my bride prompted the question, so we're good with music style. Our wedding theme is Spain as that is where we both met - thanks for checking though, definitely wouldnt be a good thing otherwise! Miami, FL.

Escribano - yes similar, but that is for a reception performance not the entrance to the reception. Still finalizing the events for the big day. Unfortunately due to a move and a bunch of travel I dont think i'll be performing a song personally. Learning curve is huge and I haven't been able to dedicate the time needed. I'll likely accompany her with a cajon instead.

etta - that's awesome!

OK, just wondering and you would never really learn something good enough in a few months. I was at it for years and didn't get very far [:D] Have a great day!

We have our good ol' Don Soledad in Miami, a professional guitarist, who's had plenty of experience with gigs as this. Perhaps he could agree to honor your wedding day on behalf of ForoFlamenco?

val -> RE: Wedding Reception Entrance Song (May 25 2014 16:27:16)

Would Salve Rociera work? Many versions available, but I like the one by
Ecos Del Rocio.

Ddoonie... I have (Cautiously) good news. I asked Don Soledad who, very generously, says he may be able to play at your Wedding.

He is not in Miami, however, but a 3 hrs drive.

He is asking what is the "Date" (and time and place)?

Here's the Man:

Estevan -> RE: Wedding Reception Entrance Song (May 25 2014 19:53:59)

Soemthing like this is always entertaining...

...but I'd recommend Don, as GJ suggests with his customary wisdom.
