Miguel de Maria -> Amplification weirdness (May 21 2014 16:07:31)

So I was playing this corporate background gig last night. Moderate volume, but not quiet; my AER was putting out some sound. I detuned the 6th string to D to play some Brazilian pieces--and all of a sudden I notice a hum coming from the amp. I touch the cord where it plugs into my guitar and the hum disappears. It's some sort of ground hum, right? When I touch the metal it stops, when I take my hand back, it starts again. I mess around with my cords, but the hum will not stop. I suppose it is because my amp is plugged into an extension cord using a 2-pole adapter, but when I unplug my amp (it has battery), the hum continues. WTF? On the other hand, I do have a Ditto looper plugged in, but it is supposedly true bypass. When I finish the D pieces and tune the 6th back up to E, the hum goes away, and does not return.
